The Municipality of Lucca's new accessible portal, www.comune.lucca.it, was developed with FlexCMP technology and received an accessibility logo from the National Committee for Information Technology in Public Administrations (CNIPA).
This logo which indicates that the site is completely in accordance with Law 4/2004 is the end result of the rebirth and adjustment of the institutional portal, which is now completely revamped when it comes to content organisation and layout, which is now faster, more intuitive and easier to use. The public presentation of the portal was made on 12 December, 2007 at a press conference attended by Luca Leone, the Assessor for Innovation, Communications and Public Relations, Anna Lia Tognarelli, Urp Manager, and Del Dotto, Manager for Information Technology Services in the Municipality.

The project's main objective in redesigning the institutional site was to overcome technological barriers which today limit internet access for the visually impaired, low vision sufferers, the hearing impaired, and the physically challenged. The choice of the FlexCMP technological platform guaranteed maximum site accessibility.

Using the site -says Assessor Luca Leone-, the public can find information about all the departments and services in the municipality, as well as further information regarding culture, events, sport, free time activities and tourism which are all organised by topic, and there is even information about life events (e.g.. having a family, having a child, growing old, etc.). You can access these all these on-line services by consulting the archives dedicated to bylaws, laws and council sittings, or consult construction procedures, carry out research in the library and in the photo archive, look for lost items, telematically access administrative tasks and procedures of the General Office of Productive Activities - SUAP, or also pay property taxes on-line. The public can also avail of all the Municipal forms necessary to access services and various administrative tasks. It is also possible to subscribe to thematic newsletters on events, traffic, private housing, sport, youth information, women's information, etc.

Finally, the activation of the new site allows the implementation of some interesting expansions and developments which were already under construction, e.g. a specific section dedicated to the Municipal Council, a real time information service via SMS, space and tools to participate in e-democracy, the extension of on-line services for industry and the general public, SMS news services which alert the public when their requests or applications have been processed.
